Triunfo Jiu Jitsu & MMA is honored to serve the Orange County area as an elite martial arts training experience for as much the novel beginner as the seasoned champion.

A note from Professor Felipe Fogolin, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo Blackbelt, and Professional MMA Fighter:

Triunfo translated from Brazilian Portuguese means Triumph.  At Triunfo we aim to be triumphant as an academy, a team, and individuals over all challenges we may face both in martial arts as well as life.  It is said that the way we do one thing is the way we do all things, therefore the diligence, respect, humility, and confidence we develop in training begins to show up elsewhere in our lives.  Being triumphant does not always equate to a win or an end result, but rather the attitude and spirit in which we face challenges and setbacks.  Winning is not always in our control, but being triumphant is and we must take full responsibility for that.  Many new students have come to me excited to be the best jiu jitsu practioner, or the best muay thai fighter, or the best in MMA and while I stand behind any goals our students may have its most important that they prioritize becoming the best version of themselves.  That’s true triumph, that’s what Triunfo brings out in our students and community, and this is what makes me proud.

Our spacious, clean, and professional facility sets the tone for a great workout and training session!

I have been training for Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai at Triunfo for a few weeks now and I love it! The instructors are world class fighters and take joy in teaching. There are students from all ages and everyone is very friendly and always willing to teach you everything they know in order to help you get better.

When I was looking for a great gym to work out at and learn some fighting skills I happened upon Triunfo because of my boyfriend. This is THE BEST GYM to learn MMA because of the high caliber of coaches here. At other gyms in COSTA MESA you might find ONE SINGLE BLACK BELT. At Triunfo, FELIPE has a JUDO BLACK BELT as well as a BRAZILIAN JIUJITSU BLACK BELT. Muay Thai Coach TYLER has a BLACK BELT IN MUAY THAI. Whether you are looking to become the next ULTIMATE FIGHTER or like me, looking for a good work out. WHY wouldn't you surround yourself with greatness? The gym is well kept, full of motivating training partners, as well as ORANGE COUNTY'S top COACHES. At the end of the day, when choosing a gym, why wouldn't you want to learn from 3 BLACK BELTS? Any other gym in COSTA MESA might have just one.

Triunfo is a really amazing spot to learn BJJ. I had never been into martial arts and was intimidated going in, but Alex and Felipe were really cool and made me feel at home from the start. This is such a great place to be. I daydream about class all day while at work and can't wait to walk in the door with my gear ready to train. The instructors are very knowledgable and technical, and they take a lot of time to make sure we are learning and growing as jiu jitsu practitioners. If this were just a BJJ gym the membership would be worth it, but there are also a lot of other classes. I've been staying for Muai Thai lately and having a blast learning standup from a really excellent teacher.

My 13-year-old son has been going to this MMA gym for about 4 months now. It's awesome! Lots of classes: jiu jitsu, judo, wrestling, MMA, Muay Thai, karate and a few others. The staff couldn't be any better and there's a real camaraderie at work here. In addition to the excellent martial arts training, the trainers are also passionate about helping kids develop character. Can't say enough good things about Triunfo!

3 Benefits of Learning and Practicing Martial Arts

You’ll learn to defend yourself and develop the confidence in your ability to do so if need be. Our hope is that you’re never faced with a dangerous situation, but our intent is to prepare you if you are. Consider this quote, “A student said to his master: ‘You teach me fighting but you talk about peace. How do you reconcile the two?’ The master replied: ‘It is better to be a warrior in a garden than to be a gardener in a war.’” As this quote suggests, we expect peace and safety for our students, but wish to arm them with knowledge and preparation should the time ever come that they should need it.
Training martial arts is a lifestyle more than it is a single session workout. The time you spend training on the mat will serve as a full body strengthening program. You will experience improved mobility and coordination. Your cardiovascular fitness will develop with time and you will find yourself with more endurance and stamina than ever before. Additionally, many are surprised at the natural transition to improved diet, increased hydration, and better, more satisfying rest. Our bodies can only fuel off of that which we provide them. When increasing your training you will find yourself more motivated to fuel your body with whole, natural, nutrient dense foods. Hydration plays a key role in the eco-system that is our body. Many of us unknowingly go about our day all but dehydrated, however as you increase your training you’ll start to value the improved performance and recovery that comes from being properly hydrated. Have you ever woken up after 8 hours of unrestful sleep only to be faced with a brand new day and too little energy to take it on? Our bodies have a peculiar way of rebalancing themselves when we engage in activity and exercise. Many of us are over stimulated mentally and under stimulated physically. This leads to restless sleep. As you begin your journey of learning martial arts and develop a consistent training schedule you’ll likely find yourself on better sleep cycles than ever before. The martial arts lifestyle truly leads to a more balanced way of life.
Most of us know that exercise alone is a great way to reduce stress. Additionally, fewer of us understand the benefit of experiencing the right kind of stress. Stay with me. In training, as in life, you will undoubtedly be faced with stressful or less than ideal circumstances. These circumstances exist for everyone in varying degrees. It is not the circumstances that define us, but rather our response to them. In training martial arts you will be asked to step outside of your comfort zone, you will find yourself uncomfortable mentally and physically, there will be times when you will have to dig deep to find the focus to get through a distressing moment or two to stay committed to your goal or aim. In time, mental strength will develop through your new found focus on the mats. This mental toughness and development will spill over to other areas of your life forever bettering your life and the lives of those around you.
